Fate of Io
Concerning Hobbits (and other races, excluding Hobbits)

Here we go. This topic is for general questions and discussion you have regarding the primary races of the Fate of Io world, including which races those are.

Here's a brief overview of the current picture:

Humans - Hopefully, you know what a human is. The highest concentrations are found on the Titan Continent, namely Trosene, Port Korra, and Titan City. Syne, Cade, Rheya, Ko, and Rush are all human.

Drythians - Largely isolationist and nonviolent, the Drythians live exclusively on the Titan Continent, in the mountains northwest of Titan City. This area was once the Drythian empire, but the growth pangs and exploitative nature of humans and [Petrolans] have driven this race almost to the point of extinction. Few Drythians leave their home, and when they do, it's usually due to some sort of extremist motivation to protect the "Homeland". Enna and Wallace are Drythian.

[Petrolans] - While brutish and generally short-tempered, this race has been able to fit into societies as hard workers and effective soldiers. They live on both the Titan Continent and Kay Pacha, concentrated in Serribis and Daccha Vira. Petrola and Paerda are [Petrolan]. NOTE: "Petrolan" is a race name due to change. See the corresponding topic in the Races section.

Proteans - A race that considers themselves quite "advanced." Around the age of 17, Proteans attain the magical ability to shape-shift themselves or any other living thing into the form of select creatures. They are indiginous to the underground realms of Kay Pacha, where they guard and use the abundant ore there. Brooke and Tyrus are Protean.

Antareans - Though relatively small for a sentient race, Antareans are quick, shrewd, and quite powerful in numbers. They are indiginous to Kay Pacha, to the sky-high kingdom of Antares. Delloran and Kydran are Antarean.

Feel free to discuss details regarding these races; it's often helpful to identify common conceptions and then see whether that should be established or disregarded as a misconception.

One question, first, though: Should dragons be included on the list of races? We encounter a few throughout the story; Aequus and the Protector of Tarikun are dragons.

Hmmm... Drythians... I don't remember hearing a lot about them. Is Enna one of thoes?

EDIT: Also, dragons should be a separate race if we have a story for their existence. Maybe there were 12 original dragons but a lot of them died and the few remaining are trying to keep peace in the world.
lol, I just made that up.

Ok, cool stuff. But I thought Drythians wasn't final? That's why I put in Enna's node [Drythian] in Race...ah well. And these guys are basically Elves, aren't they? (More of a cross between wood elves and battle elves, or course, not the super-powerful immortal all-wise Tolkien elves, like your typical Terry Brooks Elf =) ).

Petrolans...could be called Kerads (off the top of my head. I don't think I've ever submitted a "name" anybody ever liked...) or something like that. And these guys aren't good or bad, right?

Dragons should be their own race. I kinda like that idea with the few dragons idea Baha. I like it.

Antareans should be described as small and less powerful dragons, because that's basically what they are (aren't they?)

And Proteans are basically humans, just with an innate ability to cast magic (unlike most humans...we have yet to figure out why they're different) (?)
