Maybe Kydran went into a "Patriot" (the movie) like rage and started killing in a mad frenzy. Just the site of him would freeze people in their tracks, and he would rip through proteans and innocentors alike (antareans avoiding narrowly)...that would help explain why he would be so scarred from this event in his life and why he would want to learn resurrect so bad.

You like it?

I'm pretty sure we figured this one out a little while ago. Let me go look .....

Yeah. Here it is.

The only difference is that, rather than saying Antareans' skeletons are made of eumonite ("ore"), it would be that Kydran used the concatenated eumonetic energy from his army to cast an upper-level "technique". He didn't have eumonite, so he drained their HP to perform the technique, which subsequently wiped out the Proteans along with Tarikun.

So, to clarify, Kydran drained the eumonetic energy through HP of the antareans to kill the proteans, consequentially killing and wreaking havoc on Tarikun and it's citizens, and weakening most the antareans, bringing many to death? Sounds pretty tragic and graphic to me...

It didn't just weaken the Antareans, it outright killed most of them. Yeah, it is very tragic, and that's why Kydran has his overwhelming guilt complex and wants to make death obsolete.
