Fate of Io
Sonata Arctica (And the whole Power Metal thing)

Wow, all of this over some music. I never liked Rap myself. I think its just a person that says very little for a long time then gets paid millions of dollars for it. I've never heard a good rap song. One of my friends raps, and I could compare some of his stuff to some of the stuff that the rap artists dish out, and I would consider his better. Metal, I never really liked it either. Same with bluegrass and gospel. Anything else is fine with me.

It is all fine and good except for rap. Though my personal favorite is classical rock such as led zeppelin pink floyd aerosmith and the like. Though metallica's black album is one of the best albums out there.

Long time, no see.
Most of you propably won't even remember me, but I was here long, long, long, long...(and so on) time ago. I just haven't had the time 'cause I've been composing and playing this Power Metal, or "junk" as some call it around here.

Well, anyways, it was such an interesting topic I just had to reply. I'm one big Sonata Arctica fan myself. I don't know if any of you have the new album, "Winterheart's Guild", but damn(sorry)it's good.

And if you like this kinda Music (with big M), then I know few at least as good bands as Sonata Arctica. Visit www.dreamtale.net, they're the top! And I also hear Kamelot's quite good, though I haven't heard them, and Requiem, and Running Wild, etc...

Yeah, I do listen a lot of Power Metal, but a draw a clear line between that and black metal, which I hate even more than Pop (and that's quite lot!). I just can't understand those words.

Oh, and Davy mention something about <<ancient>> instruments. I can tell those guys use the finest Jackson and Ibanez guitars I've seen, not to mention their amps and pedals. Their not the cheapest, either. Jackson Custom is just around 1500-3000 dollars, depending on the model.

Am I talking to myself? Guitarists are rare these days... good guitarists...

Well, it's good to see some old guys are still here. I'm trying to get here more often from this day on.

By the way, the new outfit of these sites is nice!

I'm a guitarist, but I'm not too knowledgable technically.

Good guitarists may be rare, but good keyboardists are even rarer! Especially good synthesists!! I know of maybe two who fall in that category and one of them is me! lol

I know a bunch of good synth players, all of them from those Power Metal bands. Jens Johansson from Stratovarius (and he's a real master!), Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica and Turkka Vuorinen from Dreamtale. You should try to look for Stratovarius' records. Especially the one with Black Diamond -track. That is one good song with both great guitar and great synth.

Good singers aren't too rare *points rather blatantly to self*

Good keyboardists are rare though you are all blessed with my company. Be reverent now, ya hear?

Hey, same here. How about good guitarists? Or pianists? Or trumpeters? Or BEAT-BOXERS? Hmm...I guess I'm pretty rare then, eh? hehe

I whoop all of ye's, I'm a good trombonist. And trumpeter. And Eb Horn, Baritone and Tenor Horn and Eb Bass player. And pianist. And recorder player. And Xylophone/Glockenspiel player. Beat that :p

I play every instrument I synthesize. Most of which have no name since they are only contained within my synth. (more power to those who can play 'analog' instruments like horns though)

K: Vocal (all parts...yea, even soprano), guitar (acoustic and electric), bass guitar, drums, percussion, baritone, trumpet, piano, beat-boxing, xylophone (all those different kinds of instruments), and I would've been drum major if I wasn't a freshman a couple years ago (they gave it to two sophomores 'cuz they didn't have another chance, even though I did better than them according to my band director). Plus I dance and act.

Umm I'm not sure what the point of this is but I'll have a go:
Singer, songwriter, guitarist (electric, acoustic, little classical), electric bass, drumset (syncopated rock style), extraneous handdrums (djembe's my favorite) and percussive instruments, alto sax, bari sax, clarinet. Also some friends of mine and I once recorded a song sitting in car with no instruments except hitting stuff in the car and singing/chanting. Lil bit of beat boxing in there too. HAhaha, good times that.....
