True, a forearm strap or two would be useful - perhaps even necessary - for keeping an armblade from shifting too much during combat, but it really needs some sort of handle or hand strap as well in order to be effective. With a handle across the palm, pressure from blows is distributed along the length of the forearm itself; otherwise, all the pressure goes to the strap(s), in which case the armblade becomes at best highly uncomfortable and at worst rather unmanageable.

I've got some pictures of an armblade in a notebook somewhere that I drew for fun a while back.

I'll redraw at some point, bearing in mind that my drawing isn't the best in the world ;)

I always saw an armblade as being a blade that would strap to the back of the forearm with some kind of leather restraint (like a long bracelet).

If that makes any sense :)

Just don't expect to get it right on your first attempt. Draw something, then we'll take a look and make suggestions, then you can draw something better. I seem to remember there being a drawing of his armblades once, but I don't know where it went. I get the feeling Dev would know, but he's in the process of moving so I don't know how soon we'll see him.

Well, for a rough sketch not overly, but the more refined the concepts the more to his actual height / eye color I'd say yes. And being that he is a shorter construction worker. I'd say he would have to have a large upper body. But it is all in your inspiration for the first rough sketch. Amendments can come later.

Actually I can't even find it anywhere on the site anyway... But also, anything else about the character someone debating attempting to draw him would want to know before starting??

Do clothes or body build matter at all?

Doesn't look anything like Cid. Unless everyone with blonde hair, blue eyes, and their hand in their pocket is "definitely Cid", in which case I guess I'm Cid.

I like the second one more, looks like Cade to me. Dunno if I'd like it as official really, I think he should look younger...but I like those concepts, too.
