The Eastern Wake leads a convoy that makes its way around the Titan continent to rendezvous with the eumonetic navy and deliver orders.
-
Cade is a bit miffed that Kydran isn't coming himself to take care of Tyrus, since he seems to be the one with the biggest problem. Syne makes a passing comment about how it doesn't really matter who does it, as long as what's right gets done.
-
Rheya teaches Brooke some of the Antarean language, and how to cast spells in ways other than the instinctive method which Proteans use to morph.
-
-
Upon the rendezvous, Hyde takes command of the fleet. He gets a quick run-through of all the ships and their capabilities.
-
Hyde briefs the fleet captains about Epsilon's defense and possible trouble they might run into. Rheya chortles briefly, interrupting the briefing, and says that Hyde's prediction isn't even the half of it. If Tyrus has truly seized the full potential of Epsilon's eumonetic capacity, they'll be facing a nearly unbeatable opponent. Miriel subsequently cuts Rheya short, and says they only need to be smart about it, not emotional and pessimistic (Rheya feels chastised and annoyed at this, but she hardly talks back to her life-long teacher). Miriel suggests that the navy provide an "entertaining" diversion for Tyrus while the others aboard the Eastern Wake discretely find a place to break in. Hyde didn't really have a better idea, so the rest of the day the captains spend planning details.

During a demonstration of a Eumotech echo-locator, an unidentified vessel is detected heading straight for the fleet. It might be Epsilon, and all ships are brought into attack formation.
-
Everyone is relieved to see it's only a rusty old fishing vessel. The Eastern Wake is prepared to go hail the ship, but before it can leave, a sudden rise of gargantuan black metal bursts from the sea, taking the fishing vessel up with it. Red energy starts lashing out at the formation of ships, and Hyde orders them to return fire.
-
A large-scale cutscene of the sudden battle shows Eumotech volleys from the fleet being met with pure eumonetic firepower. The attacks on Epsilon seem to be deflected by some sort of eumonetic shell around the mining vessel. There is much destruction, flashiness and special effects.
-
Rheya, Syne, Cade, and Brooke quickly get into the Eastern Wake, knowing they have little time. Cade pilots the boat away from the fleet, dodging blasts from Epsilon. The quick ship comes up alongside the eumonetic shell, and Brooke and Rheya together perform a technique of their own, opening up a small hole in the side of Epsilon's shield. The Eastern Wake slips through. The three stand out on the edge of the bait as Cade brings it close to the hull. One by one, Syne, Rheya, and Brooke climb up onto the side of the monstrosity.
-
-
Meanwhile, Rush and Enna spill out of the newly wrecked fishing boat and onto the hull of Epsilon. They can see the raging sea battle going on from where they are. Rush, knowing Ko is probably still stuck inside, figures he'd be most useful at the moment to try to find and free the boy. He gives Enna the option of staying outside or trying to find a way in with him. Having a bad experience with the topside of Epsilon earlier, Enna eagerly follows the knight.
-
After searching around the hull, they eventually find a hatch. It's protected by some sort of lock (a nice puzzle for the player). The two descend into Epsilon.
-
As soon as the hatch closes, we pan over and see Syne and company clambering up over the side of the hull. Rheya leads them to a similar hatch (another puzzle!) and they enter into Epsilon.
-
-
Both parties make their way through the bowels of Epsilon. They just barely miss each other several times, and even further the others' progress without knowing it. (Of course, the player knows it. This works very similarly to the puzzle of Ultimecia's castle in FF8.) Enna and Rush are the first to pass through the entrance to the control room, and Syne, Rheya, and Brooke find their way after.
-
The latter party walks in on a disturbing scene. Tyrus is standing with Ko at his side, both adorned in absurdly majestic robes. Rush is panting heavily on the ground nearby, apparently having just attempted an attack. Nearby, much to Syne's dismay, is Enna, with an expression torn with pain and horror frozen on her face; she has been encapsulated in a tower of ice. Outside the control room window, we can see the town of Io coming over the horizon.
-
Brooke runs to Rush and helps him to his feet. As he stands, he sees Rheya and Syne nearby, and Brooke quickly introduces him to them as a friend. Syne nods: "A good old-fashioned knight, huh?" Rush catches himself staring at the young man, but quickly composes himself and turns to face the enemy.
-
Tyrus smirks at their spirit, and says none of them deserve a place in "his world." There is the obligatory pre-boss-battle lecture, and our heroes gather to challenge the madman.
-
Rush responds: "You have breached the balance which I have sworn my life to protect. You cannot be allowed to continue."
-
Rheya responds: "You're not creating any sort of world; you're tearing it apart. If only you could see that magic is most powerful when it works for good."
-
Brooke responds: "You've abused the trust of an entire civilization and our customs. You don't deserve the self-appointed power that's corrupted you."
-
Syne responds: "There's no excuse for this. I remember the short time I had to see how beautiful the world really is, and I won't let you ruin it."
-
The battle with Tyrus.
-
Our heroes lose. Epsilon's magic is too great a support to overcome.
-
-
-
Tyrus turns to Io, and says that its paradise is just an illusion, that he is the only one who can bring to life the ideals for which the small town strives. And quickly, a shadow falls upon Io, there is a faint wailing, and the town is dead.
-
Brooke, the first to regain consciousness, tries to approach Ko. The boy stands over her like a king. She begs Ko to come to his senses, which brings Tyrus' attention back around. He decides it's time to deal with these four nuisances once and for all. As Brooke gets closer to Ko, Tyrus hands him his sword and instructs the boy to finish the job. Ko raises the sword. Brooke pleads for him not to kill anyone more. Flashes of Kory's death cut through the scene. Tyrus tells Ko to teach them a lesson the world will never forget. Brooke is weeping. The flashes come quicker, Tyrus' voice repeats over and over, and the scene starts to blur. We suddenly see a clear image of Kory, his expression seeming to simply say, "Please, Ko."
-
Ko breaks, screaming "That's not what he'd want!" and drives the sword straight through Tyrus. The Protean is shocked, and falls to the ground with his own sword through his body.
-
-
Outside, the eumonetic shield falls, and the battle outside slows to a halt. Cade brings the Eastern Wake to rejoin the rest of the navy, and awaits a sign from Epsilon. They see a group of six emerge on the top of the huge facility, and a cheer erupts from the fleet.
-
Syne and Rush are carrying Enna's limp form and gently place her down on the hull. Syne quickly checks her over, finds she's not breathing, and looks desperately up to Rheya. The eumoneticist leans over, and mournfully admits that Enna has faded too far for any of her techniques to help.
-
Rush moves over to look at the Drythian. He mutters an old prayer under his breath, and administers some odd form of aid, touching some kind of stone to her stomach, her chin, then her forehead. Syne watches on in worry. Everyone is frozen in silence for a few moments. Then suddenly, Enna takes in a breath and starts to cough. Syne embraces her, and when she opens her eyes, she realizes who's hugging her. Enna backs off in disbelief, but Rheya gently touches her shoulder in reassurance. Enna suddenly doesn't care, and the two embrace again; and there is much rejoicing.
-
Just as it seems the credits are about to roll, Syne turns to Rheya: "Hey, whatever happened to Dell?"
