[12:50:27] Temporal joined.

[13:01:11] Kass joined.

[13:01:16] Temporal: hallo

[13:01:23] Kass: Lively meeting.

[13:01:37] Temporal: well... it just officially started a minute ago

[13:01:59] Kass shrugs.

[13:02:21] Kass: As awesome as it is, I am dead sick of looking at IoCM sites. >.>

[13:02:31] Temporal: oh? :P

[13:02:43] Kass: I've had to make... ummm... ::count::

[13:02:53] Kass: ... at least five.

[13:03:10] Kass: And I haven't even gotten to ALL the people who want it. Rawr.

[13:03:37] Temporal: sorry for making software everyone wants to use. :P

[13:03:53] Kass: You should be.

[13:04:38] Temporal: where's Dev, dammit?

[13:05:31] Kass: Sleeping, clearly.

[13:05:39] Temporal: but not idle

[13:05:44] Captain Vimes joined.

[13:05:56] Kass: You brink him?

[13:06:00] Temporal: yeah

[13:06:04] Captain Vimes: Blaargen smitey

[13:06:09] Temporal: hello, cap'n

[13:06:29] Temporal: we're hoping Dev shows up

[13:06:41] Captain Vimes: Hello. I was watching Epoch: Evolution on the Sci-fi channel when it occurred to me that I had an meeting to make.

[13:07:00] Temporal: well, hey, you did better than Dev

[13:07:12] Captain Vimes: Did Google contact you about that job?

[13:07:19] Temporal: ... lol

[13:07:21] Temporal: yes, I got it

[13:07:26] Temporal: wow, someone I haven't told

[13:07:55] Temporal: I start in three weeks

[13:08:13] Captain Vimes: That's awesome.

[13:08:24] Temporal: indeed

[13:09:24] Temporal: now Dev's idle. :(

[13:09:35] Temporal: maybe I should call him. :P

[13:09:55] Kass: ::lol::

[13:10:02] Kass: Phone abuse. :P

[13:10:25] Captain Vimes: :Dev, get yo' ass up and join the meeting:

[13:11:22] Temporal: I just did a little brainstorming on character abilities, and suddenly I feel interested in this game again!

[13:11:26] Temporal: funny how that works

[13:11:44] Captain Vimes: It's just like what Dev said it would be like!

[13:11:57] Temporal: ... not exactly

[13:12:24] Captain Vimes: Well, to you.

[13:12:55] Temporal: now where did I put his phone number?

[13:15:31] Temporal: no answer

[13:16:33] Temporal: ooohhh kay then

[13:17:12] Temporal: so I'm thinking each character should have two major abilities, each of which has a number of techniques

[13:17:32] Temporal: like, Dell has flight and air-water eumonetics

[13:18:49] Captain Vimes: Mhm.

[13:18:53] Temporal: and with flight you can do a number of things... obviously fly up to high places, but also carry stuff, and... [insert ideas here]

[13:19:07] Temporal: and eumonetics obviously involves a lot of specific techniques

[13:19:43] Captain Vimes: Well, flying itself has a plethora of applications, so we don't really need to elaborate too much (like, flying to the second level of a building)

[13:20:19] Temporal: well, I think we should elaborate anyway so that when we start developing puzzles, we have those things in mind

[13:21:20] Captain Vimes: Okay, we can use it to scout

[13:21:35] Temporal: actually...

[13:21:36] Captain Vimes: :be patient, I'm juggling three conversations:

[13:21:57] Temporal: well, I'm trying to think of things like "carry", where there will be some specific programming involved to support it

[13:22:50] Temporal: hmm... "diving attack", a simple battle ability

[13:24:18] Captain Vimes: Well, while flying you could, say, reach a balcony that would be otherwise unguarded.

[13:24:35] Temporal: right... but there's no additional programming needed to make that possible

[13:25:29] Captain Vimes: Oh, you mean things that would require additional programming to make, right?

[13:25:38] Temporal: ... that's what I said, yes. :P

[13:26:12] Captain Vimes: Bleh.

[13:27:04] Temporal: well, that's probably enough, really

[13:27:21] Temporal: we want to keep things simple

[13:27:31] Temporal: how about some air/water eumonetics, now?

[13:27:50] Temporal: I have a number of ideas...

[13:27:57] Captain Vimes: Well, simple things like gust or, um, 'Force Push' are probably already there.

[13:28:28] Temporal: been playing Jedi Knight much?

[13:28:52] Captain Vimes: No, not really. :p

[13:29:19] Temporal: so there's movement stuff...

[13:29:28] Temporal: levitation, telekinesis, and wind gust

[13:29:54] Temporal: levitation and telekinesis would apply to single objects, whereas gust would be an "AoE" push

[13:30:09] Kass: (AoE... ::snicker::)

[13:30:23] Temporal: it's not a WoW-specific term, you know. :P

[13:30:29] Kass: I know. :P

[13:30:36] Captain Vimes: Mass levitation could be used to carry the entire party over a chasm, though I'm not sure about the eumonetic drain for that.

[13:30:58] Temporal: levitation would be able to apply to larger objects, but only move up and down

[13:31:12] Temporal: telekinesis could move objects more arbitrarily

[13:31:30] Temporal: well, I think levitation should still be restricted to one person at a time...

[13:32:01] Temporal: and we don't want to make Dell's own flight ability obsolete with this

[13:32:07] Captain Vimes: Ah, right.

[13:32:34] Captain Vimes: How dexterous would telekinesis be? We can't have it be able to, say, unlock doors. Can he move objects that he can't see?

[13:32:49] Temporal: line of sight, I would think

[13:33:18] Temporal: we'll flesh out the details after getting the basic ideas down

[13:33:41] Temporal: actually, now that I think about it, let's nix levitation... it overlaps too much with flight and carry

[13:34:20] Temporal: we could have a "float" ability, though... which causes an object to hover off the ground

[13:34:24] Captain Vimes: It'd be too hard to balance an upgust of air to carry yourself over anything. Or at least, that'll be our explanation.

[13:34:29] Temporal: which could, say, make it easier to push large objects

[13:34:38] Temporal: no no...

[13:34:51] Temporal: these abilities aren't necessarily based on blowing things with air

[13:35:18] Temporal: they are part of the "air" element because air covers movement

[13:35:26] Temporal: that doesn't literally mean they use air

[13:35:36] Captain Vimes: Oh, sorry.

[13:35:54] Temporal: the eumonetic language can be used to express any request

[13:36:32] Temporal: but only the antareans (dell not included) know the language... Dell will be limited to specific phrases he learns from Rheya

[13:36:41] Temporal: it just so happens that levitation isn't among them

[13:37:35] Captain Vimes: Well, what about a technique to guide projectiles so that they will become more accurate (difference from telekenisis is that they don't lose their inherent force, say, like guiding a shot arrow)

[13:38:00] Temporal: ohh... that could be a good synergy technique. :P

[13:38:50] Captain Vimes: And telekenisis could be used to deflect incoming projectiles as well.

[13:39:09] Temporal: so, Dell could direct Enna's arrows if Syne is in the party

[13:39:20] Temporal: ah... force field... yes
