[13:40:20] Captain Vimes: Simple things to increase speed would be attuned to air as well.

[13:40:42] Temporal: well... I prefer unique abilities over "bonuses"

[13:40:47] Temporal: a couple more ideas...

[13:41:13] Temporal: "turn to mist" would allow Dell to convert himself (or maybe another?) to mist for a short period, in order to move through small spaces

[13:41:18] Temporal: or evade attacks

[13:42:05] Temporal: "confusion" would make the target entity too confused to do anything for a limited time

[13:42:24] Temporal: so you could confuse a guard then run by

[13:42:28] Captain Vimes: Right.

[13:43:12] Temporal: how about some more water-air stuff? Mist would be slightly water...

[13:43:55] Captain Vimes: What attribute is water associated with?

[13:44:39] Temporal: healing/soothing, for one

[13:44:59] Temporal: each element is associated with a lot of things

[13:45:22] Captain Vimes: Well, soothing could be used to belligerent animals / people.

[13:45:34] Temporal: hmm... charm

[13:46:18] Temporal: and mind control

[13:46:28] Captain Vimes: For a short period of time they could command the affected target as though it was in your party for charm...

[13:47:06] Temporal: that's sort of a combination of confusion and soothing, see... thus making it air-water

[13:47:47] Captain Vimes: Well, you could have a spell that heals someone while protecting them from physical (kenetic) attacks.

[13:48:31] Temporal: I'm actually not that interested in direct healing spells

[13:48:46] Temporal: since healing can be accomplished via a direct transfer of energy anyway

[13:48:59] Captain Vimes: Hmm...

[13:49:22] Temporal: I was thinking about weather-related stuff, like "call storm", but I can't think of how it would be useful in-game

[13:49:43] Captain Vimes: That'd be cool, but probably a bit too powerful for the characters.

[13:49:57] Temporal: that too

[13:50:08] Captain Vimes: Well, as an extension of charm we can have a disguise self ability, with the bonus that people won't know that they've been magically affected. Well, directly.

[13:50:53] Temporal: eh... that would have the same use as confusion, really

[13:52:15] Captain Vimes: I'm thinking it'd be able to affect more than one person, since they're disguiding themselves, and not confusing a guard.

[13:52:51] Captain Vimes: Plus, they could act as, say, nobles and extract information from guards, though it'd have a chance to fial.

[13:53:11] Temporal: maybe, but I also think it would trivialize stuff... just disguise yourself all the time and walk right by everything

[13:53:45] Temporal: I'll put it down... we can think about it

[13:55:49] Temporal: we also need to think of pure-water stuff for after Dell's transformation, of course

[13:56:00] Temporal: that is... when he gets his wings clipped

[13:56:51] Captain Vimes: Well, let's see...

[13:57:35] Temporal: hmm... need to figure out what else water is good for, other than soothing and healing

[13:59:04] Captain Vimes: Change?

[13:59:21] Temporal: hrm... "morph" is an earth ability

[14:00:14] Temporal: resurrect is a super-high-level water ability, of course

[14:00:51] Temporal: hmm... maybe we should have healing techniques after all... the difference between them and direct energy transfer being that you can heal someone of the opposite affinity

[14:04:12] Temporal: animation? To animate an otherwise non-living thing...

[14:04:45] Temporal: not sure how that would work in-game, though

[14:04:54] Captain Vimes: Me neither.

[14:05:05] Captain Vimes: I'm thinking about status effects being associated with water, but I'm not sure if it ties in.

[14:05:28] Temporal: poison, perhaps

[14:07:52] Temporal: of course, the most simple water spell should be something that just calls some water and makes things wet

[14:08:01] Captain Vimes: Well, poison comes in a variety of forms.

[14:08:08] Captain Vimes: Douse flame, purify water, etc.

[14:11:34] Temporal: alright, enough of that for now

[14:11:39] Temporal: what should Syne do other than synergy?

[14:12:12] Captain Vimes: Charisma, so you can elict more information from otherwise uncooperative townsfolk?

[14:12:53] Temporal: erm

[14:13:11] Temporal: I really don't like gameplay involving simulated conversation. -_-

[14:13:44] Captain Vimes: Well, they'd just say their canned thing, then they add the 'additional information'

[14:13:57] Temporal: that's not a good puzzle...

[14:14:13] Captain Vimes: Okay.

[14:14:19] Temporal: basically whenever you have syne you'd use him to talk, and otherwise you wouldn't

[14:14:26] Temporal: doesn't really... make the game more interesting...

[14:14:57] Captain Vimes: His inherent strength was discussed by Dev.

[14:15:31] Temporal: what was that, again?

[14:17:58] Captain Vimes: That since he's stronger than most other people, he could be able to lift things, etc, that other people couldn't.

[14:18:43] Temporal: oh... literal strength

[14:18:50] Temporal: sure... but Cade and Rush have that too

[14:19:25] Captain Vimes: They do? o_O, must've missed that.

[14:19:53] Temporal: erm

[14:19:59] Temporal: they're both strong, yes

[14:20:10] Temporal: I always thought of them as stronger than Syne, in fact

[14:21:16] Captain Vimes: Well, we can scribble it down for later. I couldn've sworn I saw that somewhere.

[14:22:03] Temporal: ... it's sort of implied in the character descriptions

[14:22:19] Temporal: yes, Syne is a construction worker, therefore strong

[14:22:22] Temporal: but so is Cade

[14:22:24] Temporal: and Rush is a warrior

[14:22:26] Temporal: so...

[14:22:39] Captain Vimes: I always thought it was something more... not really built up. Must've misread something.

[14:22:49] Temporal: huh?

[14:23:10] Temporal: what, like some sort of supernatural strength?

[14:23:20] Captain Vimes: Or inherently stronger.

[14:23:34] Captain Vimes: I could've sworn I saw that somewhere.

[14:24:00] Temporal: ... I think you're deriving some meaning from the word "inherent" which it doesn't have

[14:25:23] Captain Vimes: Probably. I'm going to look for that.

[14:26:14] Temporal: well, it's apparent Dev isn't coming

[14:26:53] Temporal: I'm sort of tired of discussing this for the moment

[14:26:59] Captain Vimes: Okay. See you later.

[14:27:07] Temporal: bye

[14:27:12] Captain Vimes: Buh-bye.

[14:27:13] Temporal left.

[14:27:30] Kass: ::checks back at the beep:: Mmph.

[14:27:49] Captain Vimes: Mhm.

[14:28:17] Kass: Guess I'll get back to my work then. :P

[14:28:19] Kass: Later.

[14:28:28] Kass left.

[14:28:44] Captain Vimes left.

[20:01:07] Aetrus joined.

[20:01:27] Aetrus: damn....missed the party....

[20:04:53] Aetrus left.
