Got Questions? Post them here!
2002/11/05 19:34:27 PST by Aetrus [0/15]

Fellow contributors have been e-mailing me with questions regarding submissions, file types, styles, etc. So I figured that it would be cool to start a Q and A thread. Got a question for the music staff? Post it here, and we will do our best to answer it!

In time these questions will be compiled into a FAQ. We want to hear what you fellow contributors want to know instead of simply writing a FAQ with info that no one really wants to know anyway. ;-)

My question for the MAB is;

Am I one of you?

2002/11/07 11:09:16 PST by Aetrus [0/15]

That's up to UO, but officially the members of the MAB are Aetrus, Xeno, and Nix Xin. I, personally would welcome you man, but I don't know if we need anymore people. Like I said talk to UO he's the big cheese as far this goes.

Remember that there is really nothing that special about being an advisor or on an advisory board. You can contribute just as easily no matter who you are. The advisors just have the additional work of having to organize contributions, moderate, etc.

Temp> This I know.Thanks anyway.

And Aetrus, thanks for clarifying that. I was just odded out by the whole thing because I've never known for certain either way. I'm happy now.

Hey no problem. Being on the MAB isn't really anything special. We get official review rights, and basically whatever UO doesn't feel like doing or have time for! lol.

I got a question, what style of music are you looking for?

2003/07/06 08:04:39 PDT by nixxin [0/33]

that's all up to you. any kind of music would be appreciated here. from a monophony to a fully orchestrated MP3. as far as the actual genre goes, it's an open-ended environment. if you submit somethin we can use, awesome. if not, you'll know. the music here is pretty much all conceptual (or unfinished). no piece is official until it's chosen. i'm assuming that choosing music is one of the final stages, so the more music we have at the end, the better.

just write music for fun and submit it.

ok, kool, when I get some time i'lll put it up, i was messing around yesterday and made some music that would go well with an escape scene(like in FF8 when running from the spider thing).

PS: Does anyone remember me?

Out of curiousity, what software / hardware do you(pl) utilize for composition? At the moment I'm rockin Reason 2.0.

I almost solely use the JAZZ++ MIDI sequencer for my work; it's a bare-bones sequencer that takes a while to get used to. Once you get a handle on its features, it's a pretty powerful way to directly manipulate MIDI files into doing what you want them to do. Of course, this is my primary mode of composing since all my samples are Soundfonts .... you sound like you're not quite in the same ballpark, Mr. Bob. ;)
