I'm in a bit of a phase atm where I hunt all sorts of strange, random and impressively unique tops on the net such as Flying Bear jerseys and Rustboy tees that are sold from websites through the cafepress service. I was wondering if Fate of Io could take advantage of this whole thing?

Advertising and a neat buck in the profits? You won't sell many atm but I'd definately buy a shirt! The logo would look pretty cool on one side of a plain white tee with the website address on the shoulder blades.

There would of course be mouse mats, baseball caps, mugs, calenders and posters but I think clothing would be more effective!

(I understand that Phant suggested shirt-printing ages ago. You don't need to remind me. Difference is, he only suggested having individual shirts to make the staff feel proud - my idea would benefit the site itself and the people who runs it. It would help pay the server as well as give Temp a lickle smile for all his coding time =P not to mention double the size of Dev's head when imagining sumbody walkin past him with one!)

I meant we won't sell atm. If you guys don't want to bother - shall I set it up on my account? You can buy em off my 'shop' with no profit to myself. The team/members get them for the base price and NOTHIGN else from the page I'd be setting up.

The reason? I want one regardless =D

I might set up shop with custom graphics for a little bit of money-on-the-side.

Do I have permission to use graphics to put on my own shirts etc? I won't be putting these on the market so the onyl people who would be buying are us lot so no legalities/fairness infringement.

Temp brought this to my attention last night, and after considering, I don't see any problem with it. It'd be cool to have some tangible connection to the Project you can flaunt around.

If we do, however, I have two conditions.

As Temp said, he or I should be responsible for maintaining the shop. Not sure how else we'd say it's "official" right?

Also, regardless of who is buying or why, FoI is not for-profit, and the selling price of each item should never exceed Cafepress' base price (hopefully they don't make you add to that -_-). It's kind of moot to say that we're offering base prices only to FoI team members; this is a public volunteer project, so anyone can be a member!

This sounds like a good 10-minute or so topic for this Saturday's meeting.

One minor problem.

With the HUUUUUGE amount of artwork involved in this project, you will most definately reach the limit for the free shop, so you'd have to consider a premium shop and they cost a couple of bucks a year or sumthing...so if you sold at base price, you don't mind paying the fee?

Or if not, would you guys get annoyed if a certain piece of artwork 'one' was interested in wasn't in the store and I were to put it on a shirt in my own private store? At the moment I have my own store for my own pieces http://www.cafepress.com/shoxi at base prices but I have enlisted a manga artist to help open my own store for profits =D

Personally, I don't think I'd like having Syne in one corner. I rather like the simplicity of the current design. ::shrug::

Anyway, Dev is handling the store, so I'll let him decide when it's ready for the general public.
