heres some little sketches of enna. im focusing on how her hair should look, cuase i dont really know what suits her...

Looks very good. I like the hair.

What I was being grouchy about before is that FoI can't have more than one Enna, can it? We already have 2-3 leading visual concepts (see "Old Data" topic for Enna). Instead of evolving those candidates and picking an official one we can work from, we keep starting over. That too has a value, but can we ever move beyond that?

Psst, Temporal, I see the "page: 1" link twice in the row. And do we really need that link if there's only one page? Having it when it's not needed makes it easier to overlook the fact that a thread has several pages. And that error page still comes up after every time I post.

hey alex, which pics are the 2-3 leading ones?

You're asking me? I'm just here for the free cheese (and to annoy Temporal). Dev'd be the person to ask. Too bad we can't go by concept ranking results...

Ask an illustration staff member, like Gil or Equinoxx.

Gil and Equinoxx haven't been around lately. :P

Anyway, I've never really liked establishing which pieces are "leading"; that seems to me like a unhelpful way of looking at it. I like to point out specific details about each piece: what works and what doesn't and why.

I like those, Nataku, and that hairstyle fits Enna very well. I keep thinking one of our girls should have shorter hair, and obviously Brooke is out, and probably Rheya as well, so this unique style works for that also. I think if you take this, and put it together with Akio's costume design (he's used virtually the same outfit for every Enna concept of his), we'd be well on our way to a solid visual concept of Enna.

(How about it Nataku? So far, Akio, Gil, and Ragnarok have their bids on official, finalized visual concepts, but no one yet has two; thinkin' about getting into the running? Remember to take a look at the final style we're tending to have, including the full-body slightly-facing-left-thing. ;D)

I think the hair is awesome.

Dev: I think brookes hair is TOO long i think her hair should be a little past the shoulders, not waistline level. I'd actually rather have her a totally differnt hairstyle. like i mentioned in the old fourms before, that hairstyle doesnt match her. I could post some examples of hairstyles if you like.

If you want me to get picky i don't think the outfit matches her either. Its real unique and all but its just not brooke, somethings not right.
Her face also looks too mature.I always thought she would be the cute Riki(ffX) kinda personality. I think she should have more of a babyface cutish look. so that when she is beside ko they would look "fit", like garnet and vivi. think of the scene where vivi is watching all the mages fall off the ship and garnet comferts him.

This is totally irrelavent but in the illustration her neck and waist are too long.

I also thought that enya was supposed to be beautiful mature looking, instead of cute(not that I'm complaining, I'd rather have her cute)
she can still be cute and yet maintain a strong will, determined personality. But brooke looks more mature then enya.

Oy. First of all Brooke is official, sorry. No more changes taken (or at least that's been the case before). Besides, she's absolutely perfect from everyone else's POV, including mine and, apparently, Dev's.

And yes I agree, I always thought Enna to be more "beautiful" than "cute".

Not sure how Brooke fits into this topic, but... (feel free to make new topics, you guys!)

It doesn't look like anyone had any objections to Brooke's hairstyle when were discussing it at and before the time of its finalization. On what basis do you find a problem with its being too long? Similar arguments with the outfit, for that matter. We argued a bit about what the proper color scheme should be, and that she looked just a pinch too old (which is a rather simple matter with neglible impact on the overall visual concept), but that was about it.

It may be true that Brooke is the least "mature" out of our female player characters, but that doesn't mean she has to look childishly cute. I mean, you don't need to have an innocent babyface to be immature: I call would Brooke mischievious. Also, I think she's perhaps the most appropriate character to illustrate that looks can be deceiving.

Personally, I think Brooke and Ko look fine together. I don't really think they should ever be thought of as a couple; in fact, Brooke is a very ill match for Ko at the time they leave Tarikun. She's a 16-year-old overenthusiastic, fun-loving, ego-centric princess, and he's a 12-year-old suicidal kid who just lost his entire family. If you don't think Ko and Brooke "fit" well, then that would only help the story to make that point.

Finally, I know I'm always saying that things aren't written in stone, but it would take a good argument with valid and well-thought-out justifications, not to mention popular support, to get me to go back and un-finalize one of our official concepts. ;)

Oh, and since when were we comparing our characters with Enya?

EDIT: ::laughs:: Sorry, 3Der. Mystik got it, but I was confused; I shoulda known, this being the topic it is, that you really meant "Enna."

In that case, yes, I agree, Enna should probably come off more as being "beatiful" than "cute." It's hard to talk about characters "looking more mature" than another when 1) we don't have a well-done draft of a concept with which to compare, and 2) you could argue either way that a character is more mature than another. For instance, I might argue that Brooke is really more mature than Enna, because Brooke doesn't solve her problems by going around and blowing things up.

LOL,i must of watch lord of the rings too many times. Anyway, her outfit and face don't bother me that much, but her hair does. There are so many more hair styles that are better then just a plain ponytail, and what makes it worse is that its too long, which makes it look messy and not princess like. If we HAVE to have long hair it would better to just make it hang down instead of in a ponytail. if we HAVE to have it in a ponytail we should make it short. the two together don't match.

EDIT: And when i said ko and brooke should look "fit" i didnt mean it as in a couple, i meant that one shouldnt have a head 2 x smaller then the other one so when they stand together it would look like a peanut. they should be like younger brother, older sister kind of "fit".

Hey, 3Der, I don't suppose you've ever had really long hair that you could put up in a ponytail to know all that? :P

In fact, it's MUCH cleaner/easier to keep hair in a ponytail, no matter what length it is. The hair doesn't get tangled and knotted so easily if it's kept together. If it's flowing free, it will literally do whatever it wants, which is usually become so matted that brushing and washing in general becomes a pain.

There are other styles besides ponytails, yes... but ponytails are the simplest and easiest to put hair in. Anything else may take too much time and, while Brooke is a princess, she doesn't strike me as the type who will sit in front of the mirror and have her lady-in-waiting do a two-hour style on her. The only other style that remotely compares with a ponytail time-wise is a braid... and that still takes longer.

Just in case someone hasn't ever had long hair and was curious. :P
