Hey guys...I got the second promo out! This took me a couple days, but I think it came out very nice. Do not download and view fullscreen unless you have a monstrously powerful computer. 640x480 is the original size and that runs smoothly on most machines. I have a working AVI equivalent of this (it's about 13Mbs), which I still need to make changes to. Anyway, let me know what you think.

EDIT: It's actually better to SAVE THIS TO YOUR HARD DRIVE. If the viewing window is too big, the audio and video stop matching up halfway through.

ehhhhh... Sorry, but, like the first promo, I find this rather cheesy. I don't like making vague grandiose clamis like "A project like no other!", or in general acting like we're cooler than we really are.

Furthermore, this promo isn't very coherent. It's basically some vague statements that don't say much, some music from the game, and a bunch of random art. I'd like to see something with more structure. Like, show Syne, along with some text describing him. Then show Enna, and describe her. Being that Syne is a Pylos construction worker and Enna is a terrorist trying to destroy Pylos, this should raise some interest.

Be careful about what art you use. Official concepts, stuff by Akio, and anything submitted since v4 is good, but some of that older stuff is gray-area. The 3D-ish image of Titan city can't be used at all, as the image of the city was actually stolen by Gilgath from some random site (his quote: "ya, the original was a painting of Gondolin on some LotR site"). In general, it's probably best to stick to official stuff, because then you're showing stuff that has actually been accepted into the project. I realize there's not a lot of official stuff right now, but that should hopefully change soon.

All that said, I don't know where we'd use a promo. Don't spend an inordinate amount of time working on this when you could be working on one of the posted tasks.

That's completely fair.

I had no idea about what's official or not. The art that I used in the promo were all part of the art package, so I assumed they were all good. I also felt that making a promo like this would be great way to attract more volunteers (we're not attracting volunteers by pitching the story, we're doing it by raising a bit of interest and question). But if you feel that I should be working on other things, you're right.

However, at least you know that I'll be here in case there ever is a need for a video of some sort.

Well, I'm also not saying that this is useless. If you manage to put together a really impressive promo that doesn't sound cheesy and would be likely to get people interested in the project quickly... that could certainly be of help. It seems to me, though, that this is an awfully hard thing to do well, particularly before we get more official art and such done.

And, yeah, the art and midi archives uploaded by alex a long time ago contains stuff from before v4 that wasn't all legit.

The first promo, I loved.

This one though...... I dunno, just seems tacky and, well, boring.

Its way to slow, and goes on way to long.

sorry ^^;;
