[12:04:40] mystik3eb joined.

[12:04:58] mystik3eb: Well Temp fixed the clock...

[12:35:29] mystik3eb went away: at work

[13:04:49] Captain Vimes joined.

[13:07:41] Captain Vimes: Um. Well, the beep controls aren't there for nothing.

[13:31:37] Temporal joined.

[13:31:41] Temporal: boo

[13:31:51] Temporal: I'm running this from Safari on my Mac mini.

[13:31:55] Temporal: Yay.

[13:32:55] Temporal beeped Temporal.

[13:32:57] Temporal: yay

[13:33:04] Temporal beeped Captain Vimes.

[13:33:54] Captain Vimes: You beeped?

[13:34:00] Temporal: hi

[13:34:20] Captain Vimes: Hello!

[13:34:24] Temporal: sup?

[13:34:28] Captain Vimes: Nothing much.

[13:34:51] Captain Vimes: Well... 20 pages

[13:34:57] Temporal: ?

[13:35:00] Captain Vimes: That's a lot of chat done.

[13:35:06] Temporal: heh

[13:35:17] Temporal: and all the timestamps are off by four hours. -_-

[13:35:55] Captain Vimes: Well, you said, noone really expected for the timestamps to be in their native time zone

[13:35:58] Temporal: uh. And... these timestamps I'm seeing here are way wrong.

[13:36:10] Temporal: are you seeing correct timestamps?

[13:36:40] Captain Vimes: It matches my time, well, around it.

[13:36:49] Captain Vimes: In this chat, anyway. I'll go look at the logs

[13:36:57] Temporal: it should be exactly correct for your timezone in chat. The logs should show PST.

[13:37:04] Temporal left.

[13:37:13] Temporal joined.

[13:37:16] Temporal: frick

[13:37:23] Temporal: note to self: shift-click doesn't work in safari

[13:37:27] Captain Vimes: heh.

[13:37:52] Temporal: timestamps appear correct in the logs. It must just be Safari's fault

[13:38:35] Captain Vimes: Anything of import happen in the scant few hours I've been gone?

[13:39:04] Temporal: we talked about scores

[13:39:30] Captain Vimes: As in, point distribution, right?

[13:39:32] Temporal: if you look at the user list you'll see a lot of people have received points for old posts

[13:39:33] Temporal: yes

[13:39:45] Captain Vimes: That reminds me, why does mystik have 0/6?

[13:40:02] Temporal: basically, typical posts will receive 1-3 points, maybe 4 on occasion

[13:40:51] Temporal: music or art submissions, or "articles" (long pieces of text, such as the gameplay proposal) will start at 5 points and go up

[13:41:13] Temporal: mystik has 0/6 because he has received points for several very old posts

[13:41:24] Captain Vimes: Oh, it auto-calculates them. Cool.

[13:41:36] Captain Vimes: I thought that all points would be treated as if it was from right now.

[13:41:52] Temporal: yeah, when awarding a post, points are given according to the time the post was originally posted

[13:42:37] Captain Vimes: That's really neat.

[13:42:57] Temporal: it was actually easier to do that way. :P

[13:43:13] Temporal: and cleaner

[13:43:21] Captain Vimes: And I saw that you can award points via the chat too, right?

[13:43:37] Temporal: yes

[13:44:33] Temporal: anyway, I mainly came here to see for myself what this looks like in Safari

[13:44:39] Captain Vimes: Clean?

[13:44:47] Temporal: hmm?

[13:45:41] Captain Vimes: Does it look good?

[13:45:51] Temporal: yes

[13:46:09] Temporal: but it has to use polling mode because Apple hasn't fully implemented LiveConnect

[13:46:11] Temporal: which kinda sucks

[13:46:38] Temporal: the result of that being a small amount of lag

[13:46:48] Temporal: and increased processor usage on the client side

[13:46:53] Temporal: oh well

[13:47:13] Captain Vimes: Polling...mode?

[13:47:46] Captain Vimes: Well, nevermind.

[13:47:52] Temporal: basically the javascript has to go in a loop where every half-second or so it asks the applet whether any new messages have arrived

[13:48:04] Captain Vimes: o_O

[13:48:15] Temporal: because with Safari's bad LiveConnect implementation, the applet can't send messages to the javascript

[13:48:20] Captain Vimes: So all messages are sent or recieved those half seconds?

[13:48:30] Temporal: they are displayed on those half-seconds

[13:48:39] Captain Vimes: Ah.

[13:48:44] Temporal: it's only a problem between the javascript and the applet, which are both running on the client side

[13:48:51] Temporal: the applet manages the connection while the javascript manages display

[13:49:31] Temporal: anyway

[13:49:33] Temporal: leaving now

[13:49:44] Temporal left.

[13:49:59] Captain Vimes: Hm.

[13:50:08] Captain Vimes rolls (1-20): 10

[13:50:14] Captain Vimes: Eh. Passable.

[13:50:15] Captain Vimes left.

[14:12:02] mystik3eb returned.

[14:12:17] mystik3eb: *sigh* I missed the action

[14:42:01] Captain Vimes joined.

[14:42:08] mystik3eb: Hey Vimes

[14:42:49] Captain Vimes: Lo Mystik

[14:43:54] mystik3eb rolls (1-20): 19

[14:44:14] Captain Vimes: Oh, dang.

[14:44:17] Captain Vimes rolls (1-20): 20

[14:44:18] mystik3eb: Sweeeeeet

[14:44:19] Captain Vimes: Ha!

[14:44:20] mystik3eb: WHAT

[14:44:25] mystik3eb: Just my luck...

[14:44:36] Captain Vimes wins.

[14:44:37] mystik3eb: Dude...

[14:44:41] Captain Vimes: Yes?

[14:44:41] mystik3eb: Blast

[14:44:51] mystik3eb rolls (1-6): 1

[14:45:00] Captain Vimes: Wow. Bad luck indeed.

[14:45:02] Captain Vimes rolls (1-6): 6

[14:45:03] mystik3eb: Don't....even...

[14:45:08] mystik3eb: ......

[14:45:13] Captain Vimes: o_O
